About Ryna Karani
Ryna is an equity partner and an integral part of the Firm’s corporate and commercial team, with over 25 years of experience. She has been practicing as a lawyer since 1994 and is enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra & Goa.
Ryna has extensive experience and regularly advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, business transfer arrangements, joint ventures and similar arrangements. She has a cross section of clients from varied industries, both domestic and foreign and has lead several cross border transactions in investments, both strategic investments, mergers and acquisitions, business transfer agreements. She regularly advises clients on regulatory issues, including foreign exchange laws and SEBI laws. She has also advised and assisted a number of foreign clients in establishing a presence in India through incorporation of companies, establishment of branch/liaison offices.
Ryna also heads the banking and finance practice where she regularly advises lenders on external commercial borrowings and security creation. She also advises clients on on insolvency laws under the Indian Bankruptcy Code, general corporate matters, commercial contracts, concession agreements and real estate.
Asia Pacific Legal 500 has recommended Ryna for Banking & Finance and Real Estate and also recognised her as ‘Other Key Lawyer’ for Corporate M&A. Chambers & Partners has ranked Ryna for Corporate/M&A. IFLR1000 recognises Ryna as ‘Highly Regarded Lawyer’ for Banking, Private Equity, M&A and Real Estate Acquisitions in its 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020 Editions. Legal Era 2024 India awards has nominated Ryna as ‘Lawyer of the year – Banking and Finance’.
