Matodzi Ratshimbilani

Matodzi established MVR Attorneys in 2022. He has extensive experience in corporate and commercial law. During his career, he worked at some of the top five South African law firms as a senior associate and equity director. He began practicing law in 1995 and has over 25 years’ of experience as a legal practitioner.

He focuses on Company Law, Regulatory Law, Public (Administrative) Law, Corporate Governance, Corporate Mergers, Disposals, and Acquisitions. He has been recognised by Best Lawyers International for his expertise in mergers and acquisitions.

Matodzi’s clients over the years have included some of South Africa’s major state-owned companies and blue-chip private companies. He has also advised private owned companies like Sasol, ArcelorMittal South Africa, Imperial Logistics, MTN, Telkom, Vodacom, and many others.

Matodzi comments and writes extensively on business media and appears as an expert commenter on topical legal matters, both nationally and internationally. He has also published several commentary articles on state-owned companies’ governance and has provided commentary on television and radio on the subject.

Matodzi has in the past served as a board member of state-owned companies, including Denel and the Railway Safety Regulator. He currently serves on the board of the State Technology Agency and the Kouga Windfarm Community Development Trust, as well as the Kouga Windfarm Project Company boards.
