Rod S. Attride-Stirling

Mr. Attride-Stirling is listed in the Euromoney Expert Guide to the World’s Leading Insurance and Reinsurance Lawyers. He is a member of the Insurance Advisory Committee and the US/Bermuda Tax Convention Advisory Committee, as well as chairman of the Insurance Act Appeals Tribunal and the Investment Business Act Appeals Tribunal. Rod is an Acting Justice of the Supreme Court of Bermuda and the former President of the Bermuda Bar Association.

Rod specializes in commercial litigation and arbitration, as well as insurance and reinsurance. His experience includes:

Litigating and arbitrating controversial claims, including insurance and reinsurance claims involving commercial insurers, reinsurers, captives, managers, and brokers
Litigating substantial commercial disputes, including disputes involving: trusts and hedge funds, maritime claims, shareholder disputes and transnational insolvency proceedings Ins/reinsurance regulatory advice; and ins/reinsurance policy wording advice.

Rod is individually ranked in Chambers Global (“leading individual”) and internationally recognised in Legal 500, Practical Law Company’s Which Lawyer?, and Who’s Who Legal 2010 (for Insolvency & Restructuring). Rod is the Honorary Consul of Mexico for Bermuda. He is also Chairman of the Mental Health Review Tribunal and was formerly the Chairman of the Human Rights Commission. He is a frequent panel speaker at insurance and arbitration industry conferences.
