Many congratulations to #FCCI for the excellent conference on:
United Nations Reforms for the Changing World Order – with a special focus on the United Nations Security Council.

It was an extraordinarily inspiring afternoon, where in 2 panels 19 experts on UN affairs, such as various Ambassadors and other diplomats shared their views from their respective backgrounds on the needed change regarding the United Nations Reforms for the Changing World Order.

The special focus was on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) and how it could be adapted to the rapidly changing world enabling the key task of maintaining global peace and security via peacekeeping and peacebuilding.

FCCI had conducted a study and based on the outcomes had come up with framework guidelines dealing with mechanisms to empowering UN through its “One World” approach of collective governance.

Based on FCCI’s excellent white paper, the panellists discussed the composition of permanent and non-permanent members, the implications of the P5’s veto power, the need and implicit consensus to expand the number of members, collective governance, efficiency, financial resources. non-equitable representation, the balance of power and the discrepancy of the composition amongst other highly important topics.

The discussions were fascinating and the poignant real-life examples, as presented by, among others, the Ambassador of Yemen, showed how badly needed the reform of the UNSC is.

Many thanks for the special honour of being part of this esteemed panel!
I am looking forward to the next steps!
