Dr. Azelio Fulmini, Master and PhD in European and European Union Law at La Sapienza University, after an intense international institutional career and numerous research and academic activities, returned in 2011 to the legal profession at the French-speaking Bar of Brussels, which he had already begun in 1993 at Lambert & Associés, and interrupted for the institutional and international parenthesis, because he believes in the profession of lawyer, in the art of solving problems not only from the facts and applicable rules, but also from the persons, the individual wills, and the interpretation of the rules from the principles of the legal order, principles which are as transversal as they inspire the interpretation and execution to be given to the appropriate written rule in the interest of the person.

The written rule can never cover all material cases of conflict. This is why the activity of the lawyer lies at the point of contact between authority and freedom, constituting a creative source of justice.

This is also why Dr. Fulmini believes in so-called alternative dispute resolution (ADR) methods.

The art of the lawyer is certainly the technique of finding a solution based on the applicable rules and principles which must always be correlated with that ultimate need for justice which was already expressed in the Institutions, one of the Books which make up the Codex Iustiniani (6th century), with the definition of justice as “IUS SUUM QUICUMQUE TRIBUERE”, which expressed the spirit which was at the basis of the function of the Praetor Preregrinus: to recognize to each person his own right.

We believe that the “person” always remains the central subject of any rule, as opposed to the authoritarianism or totalitarianism of rules imposed from above. For us, the only fundamental principle that guides the work of a lawyer is the protection of the person.
