International law firm Bird & Bird is pleased to announce the recruitment of expert Hungarian patent attorney Miklós Tar, to strengthen its IP practice. His experience spans decades in key positions for top pharmaceutical companies, like Gedeon Richter and Polpharma, in multiple European countries. Being one of the few truly international law firms in Hungary to have an expert patent attorney on board, puts us in a unique position in the market to better serve our clients with new offerings in this area and boost our top patent litigation practice.

Miklós’ practice focuses on advising patent applicants, proprietors and opponents on matters related to industrial property rights, invention- and patent infringement, copyright infringement in computer programs and related documentation, works of applied and industrial design, and procedures relating to compulsory licences and the existence of such rights of prior use or sub-licensing.

Co-head of Country and head of IP in Hungary, Bálint Halász, says, “Miklós brings first-class patent-related experience to the Budapest team. His arrival is an exciting move – our office will not only be a key player in IP advisory but will also meet the growing client demand for patent advice in Europe, and at the same time marks the further development and expansion of Bird & Bird’s already leading global patent capability. We are pleased that such an experienced and renowned expert is joining our team.”

Commenting on joining Bird & Bird, Miklós Tar added “I am delighted to join Bird & Bird and to bring my experience into this dynamically developing environment. With Bird & Bird’s already reputable IP offering, I am confident both new and existing clients will find the addition of my services attractive in better serving their needs. I am looking forward to contributing to the success and growth of the Budapest team, and to further strengthening and expanding Bird & Bird’s client base.”
