As part of Dechert’s ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion, the firm is pleased to announce it has joined the Law Firm Antiracism Alliance (LFAA), a newly formed coalition aimed at forging partnerships between the private bar and legal services organizations to identify and counter systemic racism through legal representation and actions.
The LFAA, which has the support of over 125 law firms and counting, has published a charter outlining courses of action, including the creation of large-scale, coordinated pro bono projects that are both immediate and long-term in scope, as well as the implementation of legislative and regulatory advocacy strategies to change laws, rules, policies and practices identified by LFAA member firms. The alliance has announced plans to hold regular summits, its first virtual summit occurring in summer 2020.
“Joining the LFAA is aligned with Dechert’s commitment to not only acknowledging the impact of racism and social injustice, but truly driving change through meaningful actions,” said Satra Sampson-Arokium, Dechert’s director of diversity and inclusion. Suzanne Turner, partner and chair of the firm’s pro bono practice says, “Dechert has a long-standing commitment to providing pro bono services to aid communities across the world facing social injustices and we welcome the opportunity to collaborate with other firms to leverage resources and affect meaningful change.”
