The DFDL team is pleased to announce that a team of our legal experts was invited to meet and exchange ideas with the Trust Regulator of the Non-Banking Financial Services Authority.

The unprecedented, high-level discussion, which took place on 22 September 2022, brought together some of Southeast Asia leading trust experts to share ideas and proposed solutions on the key subject.

DFDL was honored to meet with H.E Sok Dara, Director General of the Trust Regulator, who was accompanied by H.E. Nong Piseth and H.E. Ney Sakal, both of whom are Deputy Director Generals of the Trust Regulator.

The DFDL team of tax and trust experts included Jonathan Blaine (Thailand Tax Director and Co-Head of Regional Compliance and Investigations), Clint O’Connell (Partner, Cambodia Deputy Managing Director and Head of the Cambodia Tax Practice), Vansok Khem (Partner and Deputy Head of Cambodia Corporate and Commercial Practice) and Vajiravann Chamnan (Tax Director).

We are delighted to have exchanged ideas, experiences, and practical techniques with the Trust Regulator team. The group collectively addressed ways to promote the enforcement of a legal and tax regime to govern Cambodia’s rapidly expanding trust sector, as well as other issues.

DFDL looks forward to continuing to work closely with the Trust Regulator to develop best practices for tax guidelines related to the trust sector.
