Global law firm Goodwin announced today that Dulcie Daly will join the firm’s Tax practice as a partner in the London office.
“The tax team continues to operate at the heart of our UK business, helping clients navigate tax implications on a broad range of transactional issues,” said Laura Charkin, Goodwin Tax partner. “Dulcie will be an invaluable resource for our clients as they continue to engage us for our specialist experience in private equity, technology, life sciences, real estate and financial services, and where these industries converge.”
“Demand from our clients at the intersection of capital and innovation has fueled the phenomenal growth of our transactional offering in London and the expansion of our international tax bench has been a key component of this,” said Richard Lever, Goodwin Private Equity partner. “Adding a partner of Dulcie’s caliber will be an immediate benefit to our clients, particularly given her deep experience advising sponsors. She is an excellent fit for both our platform and culture and we are thrilled to welcome her to Goodwin.”
With approximately 15 years of experience advising sponsor clients and their portfolio companies, Daly is widely regarded as one of the leading transactional tax lawyers in London. She focuses on UK and international tax planning and provides tax-related advice in the context of cross-border private equity and M&A transactions and restructurings. She also has experience in the tax aspects of debt finance and capital markets transactions.
Daly joins at a particularly expansive time for Goodwin’s European platform across its London, Cambridge, Frankfurt, Luxembourg and Paris offices. Headcount has grown from 20 to more than 240 lawyers across these offices in the past five years. Daly’s addition follows the hires of Geoff O’Dea in London, Dr. Joachim Kayser in Frankfurt and Harry Ghillemyn in Luxembourg earlier this year.
Goodwin’s Tax expertise is at the core of the firm’s transactional practice. The team advises on the full range of corporate transactions, including the formation of start-up companies, taxable and tax-free mergers and acquisitions, recapitalizations, cross-border transactions, research and development joint ventures, technology transfers, and leveraged buyouts. Our lawyers work with issuers and investment banking firms in connection with securities offerings as well as with private equity clients at every stage in the life cycle of an investment, from the structuring of the initial investment, follow-on rounds and the development of tax-efficient exit strategies with respect to the fund’s investments.
