We are delighted to announce that James Choi has been promoted to Partner after joining ELLALAN in 2016.

James is an IP specialist with extensive experiences in handling IP litigations, contentious, enforcement and advisory matters. He has served world-famous luxury brands, dual-listed PRC tech giants, HK unicorn, MNCs, Fortune 500 companies, and HK listed companies.

James’ most recent notable experiences include assisting PRC technology giant, Alibaba, in handling their portfolio of offshore trademark contentious proceedings (including over 200 cases in over 40 different jurisdictions), and prestigious luxury brand Louis Vuitton in handling a copyright infringement and passing-off case against Belle International in relation to its popular Archlight sneakers (HCA 776/2019).

James is currently a Council Member of the Hong Kong Sub-Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society China, and an Executive Committee Member of the Hong Kong Automation Technology Council. He is also undertaking an LLM degree in Technology and IP Law with the University of Hong Kong. He welcomed his first-born baby girl end of 2020, but is still able to find time to indulge in football, wakesurf and hiking.
