Our member Adi Muja, together with other #fellows from the Academy of European Integration and #Negotiations, participated today in a meeting organized by the National Council of #European Integration.
The meeting was focused on the role of the #Assembly and the Council, not only in strengthening the #supervisory and controlling role over the #government during the integration #process, but also in the need to increase citizen involvement and #transparency from the government, now that the negotiations with the EU have officially opened.
The meeting was greeted by Mrs. Jorida Tabaku, Chairman of the Council and Mrs. Mona Xhexhaj, Executive Director of the Academy, who emphasized the importance of involving as many young people as possible in the process, encouraging the participants to be as active as possible in increasing citizens’ awareness of European #values.
On the other hand, Mrs. Tabaku introduced the participants to the draft #legal amendments that are expected to be approved within February and on the role that the Assembly will have at this stage of the process. Considering the necessity of turning the process into a national #debate, Mrs. Tabaku emphasized the importance of involving #tradeunions, #business #associations, chambers of #commerce, but also citizens in discussions, in order to clearly understand the benefits and costs that the integration #reforms will bring.
The meeting continued with the presentation of Mrs. Elda Zenelaj Sotiri, Director of the Council’s #Technical Secretariat, who, among other things, introduced the participants to the role of the Council’s #Secretariat and the structures responsible for integration.
