This February, Nauris Grigals joins the Sorainen partnership. As a result, the total number of Sorainen Latvian office partners reaches eight. Nauris will take on the role of co-head of the Corporate and M&A practice group of the Latvian office, together with the country managing partner of the Latvian office, Eva Berlaus.

The Corporate and M&A group is among the fastest growing units in the office. In the Latvian office, its turnover increased by 20% last year alone. This increase in the size of the team shows development, but naturally the need to increase the management capacity of the practice group as well.

Nauris Grigals’ areas of specialisation include corporate law, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), employment law, corporate dispute resolution, and insolvency and restructuring.

Nauris has been working in the field of corporate law and M&A for more than 10 years, and prior to joining Sorainen, he chaired the Corporate Law and M&A group at another Baltic law firm. Alongside his corporate and M&A practice, Nauris has gained considerable experience in resolving disputes and is recognised in all major legal research directories (Chambers, Legal500, IFLR1000) as one of the leading specialists in Latvia in these areas of practice.

The country managing partner of Sorainen Latvia, Eva Berlaus, comments: “The specifics of the field of business transactions envisage period of very intensive effort when we work with our clients on large acquisitions. We wish to ensure that the needs of clients in the course of such projects can be met by both the team and especially the partners. In the future, I will lead the Corporate and M&A group of the Latvian office together with Nauris. His long years of experience will be a significant benefit to our team and will allow us to work with more capacity to offer new services to our clients.”

As previously reported, nine partners from three different countries have joined the Sorainen team since the beginning of the year. These new leaders have strengthened six international teams: Dispute Resolution, Corporate and M&A, Finance and Insurance, Tax, and Real Estate, as well as Competition & Regulatory. After joining of Nauris Grigals, the total number of Sorainen partners is now 43.
