Our lawyers Fredrik Lilleaas Ellingsen, Eline Hellem Langeland, Vemund Sande, Astrid Håve Stenersen and Fredrik Høyang Røsholdt have written a legal commentary to the Lugano Convention for Karnov Group Norway.
The Lugano Convention (part of the Brussels regime) regulates the venue, jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of foreign court decisions in cross-border disputes in the EU area. The convention is incorporated into Norwegian law as an appendix to the Norwegian Dispute Act.
The Lugano Convention has been dealt with several times in the Norwegian Supreme Court in recent years, including the question of Norwegian courts’ jurisdiction in international claims for damages in shipping (venue in insurance cases) and illegal price collusion (cumulation venue).
Karnov Group Norway has entered into a unique collaboration agreement with Lovdata to develop legal comments directly integrated into Lovdata’s digital platform. The collaboration has been called “a legal-historical market turn” and will quickly be able to challenge the existing competitors.
The platform went live on September 1 this year and Selmer’s litigation team is in good company with the country’s foremost lawyers and attorneys as fellow writers.
Our Dispute Resolution expert Fredrik Lilleaas Ellingsen was interviewed earlier this year about the Lugano Convention and the collaboration with Karnov: https://rett24.no/content-marketing/karnov/kartell-saken-kan-fa-ringvirkninger-ut-over-norges-grenser
