International law firm Simmons & Simmons has today announced that Aditi Sanyal is joining its banking team in the Middle East as a partner on 1 March 2021, based in the firm’s Dubai office.

Aditi joins the firm from Herbert Smith Freehills in Dubai where she was part of the regional banking practice and has been based for the last ten years.

Throughout her career, Aditi has built her practice on supporting financial institutions with their conventional and Shariah-compliant financing needs. Her expertise covers both syndicated and bilateral corporate banking transactions, as well as a breadth of specialisms, including Islamic finance, real estate finance, acquisition finance and restructuring.

Aditi’s core sector focus is on financial institutions and she advises a number of leading international and regional banks. Working with these clients, she advises extensively on high value financings, including recently a consortium of eleven international and regional banks on a dual tranche (conventional and Islamic) syndicated facility for a regional government related entity.

On welcoming Aditi to the firm, head of financial markets in the Middle East, Muneer Khan said: “Having Aditi’s considerable transactional banking and restructuring experience adds to our capital markets, financial services regulatory, financial crime and funds offering in the Middle East and she will be an asset to our clients in the region. She will join our dynamic growing team and build on our strong existing regional capabilities.”.

On joining the firm, Aditi commented: “Having spent the last decade building a strong banking practice across the region, I am delighted to join Simmons & Simmons and look to further expand my practice. With the trends we are seeing across the Middle East, I expect my work with key financial institutions and corporates within the firm’s sectors of focus to continue to grow as the region develops apace.”.
