Weerawong C&P acted as Thai legal counsel to Blackstone (BX), the world’s largest alternative asset manager, in relation to the proposed acquisition of a majority stake in Emerson Electric Co. (EMR)’s Climate Technologies business in several jurisdictions having a transaction value of USD 14 billion. Under the transaction, BX will acquire a 55% common equity interest in the standalone Climate Technologies business and EMR will retain a 45% common equity stake. The transaction involves assets in several jurisdictions, including Thailand. The deal was signed on 31 October 2022 and is expected to close in the first half of 2023, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
