William Leckerling has been a director of the firm since 1990. He concentrates his practice on matters involving negligence, including medical malpractice, wrongful death, brain injuries, cerebral palsy, products liability, personal injury, and construction. He also has extensive employment-law experience, which includes advising employers and employees concerning employment policies and procedures, and defending employers from wrongful discharge claims.
Bill has successfully resolved (either through trial or settlement) hundreds of complex claims and recovered millions of dollars for his clients. His clients are typically individuals, although he has represented multiple Fortune 500 companies, as well as various small business owners and condominium associations. Bill is a fellow of the prestigious American College of Trial Lawyers, certified as a Civil Trial Advocacy Specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, and AV Rated by Martindale Hubbell’s Peer and Judicial Review Rating (the highest rating possible to achieve). He is also acknowledged in the publication Superlawyers for his proficiency in employment and labor law.
Lisman Leckerling, P.C. is the current name of the law firm established in the late 1930’s when Louis Lisman opened his offices in Burlington, Vermont. Bernard Lisman, his brother, joined him in 1946 when the firm became Lisman & Lisman. The firm continued under that name, even as more lawyers joined the firm, until 2000 when the name was changed to reflect the larger size of the firm. It was, for a number of years, the oldest firm in Vermont with the same name.
