We’re pleased to announce the appointments of Paul Haswell as a partner in Hong Kong and Jin Chung as a partner in Singapore, further strengthening our capabilities across the Asia-Pacific region.

Paul joins the firm’s Hong Kong office as a technology, media and telecoms (TMT) specialist, bringing market-leading expertise across both contentious and non-contentious technology matters. He has over two decades of experience advising clients on complex technology matters including artificial intelligence, data privacy, cybersecurity, technology transactions, blockchain and cryptocurrency.

Previously, Paul headed up the TMT practice at another Hong Kong law firm, where he worked across advisory, transactional and contentious matters in the Asia-Pacific region. Paul is recognised as a leading individual in TMT by Chambers Asia and Legal 500.

His appointment significantly enhances our existing technology and TMT capabilities in Hong Kong, supporting clients across the region with specialist, sector-focused advice.

In Singapore, Jin Chung joins the firm’s office as a partner specialising in energy law and commercial transactions. He has 15 years of experience, advising companies on energy projects and transactions across both developed and emerging markets.

Jin holds a number of prominent international roles, including specialist mediator at the Singapore International Mediation Centre, international arbitrator at the Korea Commercial Arbitration Board International, and chair of multiple energy and resources committees across leading international legal and industry bodies. His extensive cross-border experience enables him to advise clients on complex transactions, disputes and regulatory matters in the energy sector, particularly where commercial, geopolitical and operational considerations intersect.

The hires reflect our continued investment in high-growth sectors and key international markets.

Our Singapore office retains one of the largest shipping teams of international firms operating in Asia. The practice has broadened considerably over the last two years, now providing all services within the firm’s marine, trade and energy practice to top tier clients.

In Hong Kong, we act for local government alongside corporates, banks, financial services providers, insurers and shipowners, as well as high net worth individuals and SMEs.

Paul’s appointment is a significant step in the continued development of our TMT offering in Asia. As our clients’ businesses become increasingly technology-driven, it is essential that we are able to support them with specialist advice in whichever sectors they operate. Strengthening our TMT capability in Hong Kong also allows us to support even more clients on an international scale, ensuring they find us wherever they need us to be.
