Today, the Dutch Financial Times (FD) featured a special supplement on business travel.

Thanks to the editors for allowing me to share my experiences.
(And thanks to Suzan Alberts for the lovely photo shoot!)

In the digital age, business travel is no longer taken for granted – do the costs outweigh the benefits, can’t it just be done online – not to mention the environmental impact.

For me, a business trip is not just about the meeting itself – but everything around it: the lunch with more than just the immediate business partner – the conversations around the lunch table that are often about more and different things than the business.

It’s about connecting with people, being genuinely interested in them, their life outside of work, their family – building a personal relationship.

You can’t do that behind a screen.

I’m curious: what is your experience of business travel in the digital age?
